Our healthcare system is at risk of becoming less public and more private. We are seeing more and more examples of having to pay for certain medical services that used to be free or instances where access to good quality healthcare now comes with a price. This is a result of cuts to the healthcare system and a view of what constitutes a full-spectrum of health care options, as well as increasing pharmaceutical interests and a failure of health insurance to provide coverage for certain services. Sonia will be part of this public conversation, organized by Concordia’s University of the Streets Café in collaboration with the Tiger Lotus Cooperative, which looks at the impact that privatization is having on our healthcare options, and how this shift is affecting our communities.
